In search for Arsenic free drinking water in Bengal Delta...

Arsenic contamination of ground water in parts of Bengal delta has been a major health hazrad to innumerous people living in the Region and dependent solely on groundwater for drinking. GSI in its quest for a georemedial measure to the issue has identified an “Orange Sand” horizon in the affected areas yielding arsenic-free groundwater at a depth of 34–50 m. It is a matter of time to see whether it gives a permanent solution to the long existing problem.......more
