AIR BORNE GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS

  • Air Borne Mineral Surveys & Exploration (AMSE) Wing of GSI has been actively engaged in undertaking multi sensor air borne surveys since its inception in 1965.

  • AMSE acquired its own aircraft and integrated airborne geophysical system in mid-1980s.

  • The aircraft is fitted with a Tridem-3 continuous wave electromagnetic system, MAC-3 Cesium Magnetometer and PGAM-1000 Gamma ray Spectrometer which are interfaced with PDAS-1000 data acquisition and recording system.

  • Supporting this is the Geophysical Mapping Centre (GMC) equipped with state-of-the-art PC based harware and software packages for processing data and generating different data products like contour maps, profiles, imagery, etc.

  • It has a team of geoscientists with three decades of experience in air borne survey and who are well versed in the state-of-the-art technology in data acquisition, processing and interpretation who can execute jobs to meet the demands of the user.

  • It has carried out aero-magnetic and multi sensor surveys over an area of 1,35,042 sq. km. (2,83,437 line km) in SELECTED BLOCKS in India.

  • It had successfully catered to the needs of the user agencies like Oil and Natural Gas Commssion (India), Oil India Limited (India), Nuclear Power Corporation (India) by carrying out aero-magnetic and multi-sensor surveys.:

Capabilities

  • High resolution magneto-spectrometric surveys at low altitudes and close line intervals
  • Aerogeophysical Surveys (EM, MAG and Radiometric)
  • Aerogeophysical Data processing and generation of Data Products (contour maps, profiles, imagery etc.)
  • Aerogeophysical Data Interpretation in conjunction with geological database, including feedbacks from aerial photo and satellite imagery interpretation.
  • Follow up Surveys over identified anomalous zones by ground geological, geophysical and geochemical studies.
  • Evaluation of positive targets by detailed exploration, including drilling.
  • Petrographic and Minerographic studies.
  • Minor and trace element analysis, including Gold and PGE.
  • Whole rock analysis, Stable Isotope Geochemistry and Fluid Inclusion Geochemistry.
  • Bench scale ore beneficiation tests.
  • Data storage, retrieval and dissemination through sale of aerogeophysical data products, scientific reports and publications.
