Our New Leader
Shri P.M.Tejale took over the charge as Director General of Geological Survey of India on 7th November , 2006.
Born in 1949, Shri Tejale obtained his post graduate degree in Physics with specialisation in Electronics from Dr.Baba Saheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Maharashtra in 1972. Before joining GSI in 1976 as Geophysicist (Junior)(Instrumentation)he served in Naval Science and Technology Laboratory.
Sri Tejale served the department in various capacities in different regions and Central Headquarters.Serving in an organisation which is essentially dedicated to earth science, Shri Tejale developed interest in that particular branch of science and obtained Post graduate Degree in Geology from Rajasthan University in 1995.
As head of the Airborne Mineral Surveys and Exploration Wing of GSI, Shri Tejale took keen interest and initiative in installing the upgraded airborne multisensor and synchronising them in record time indigenously. Because of his efforts and pursuasiveness, a helicopter along with Heliborne Multisensor Geophysical System is being procured to enhance the capabilities of GSI in mineral exploration.
Because of his administrative acumen, Shri Tejale was entrusted with additional responsibility of heading Personnel Wing as Deputy Director General(Personnel). He introduced various administrative reforms to invigorate the Department and pursued relentlessly the career progression in all cadres and disciplines.
During his tenure at the Central Headquarters of the Department, Shri Tejale guided in establishing instrument and electronic laboratory in the shortest possible time.
